The second of my friends was turned down for a job today because she was too qualified. What the hell? That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard. You hire the most qualified person. If you say, "I think you'll be bored doing this, " and they still want the job and they're the most qualified, you hire them. And the first person they turned down for this reason, for that position they hired someone who can barely work a computer. So, instead of the incredibly brilliant, skilled, talented person who would have been an asset from the beginning and would have helped to streamline systems in the office and make things more efficient, they hired someone who will make things less efficient because in addition to doing my own work, I have to teach her how to copy/paste information into a form letter in Word.

I hate my life.  HATEHATEHATE.  I hate my job.  I hate grad school.  I hate most of the people I have to deal with every day. I'm developing a serious dislike for the bunny. I hate migrations to Outlook. I hate the weather forecast. I hate jury duty.  I'm lonely.  I'm sad.  I've been crying non-stop for two days.

Oh, yes, that's right.  It's fall.

Miss you, sun, *sniff*

Anyone know how to tell a coworker not to talk with his mouth full?  Especially taking into account that anything I say to him in the office can be overheard by everyone else.   I mean, he was eating a peanut butter sandwich today, and it was all sticking between his teeth and...Oh God!  I think I'm going to hurl!

Sometimes I wonder if the only thing keeping me from going postal is 15 minutes of lolcats a week.

Nino's mom needs to have surgery on her knee, and needs someone to go stay with her for a while to help out around the house.  She's American, so no worries about language barriers, and extremely nice.  If anyone is interested in an extended stay in Italy with free room and board and lots of time for sightseeing, please let me know.  Additional perks may apply.  This will probably happen in the next two or three months or whenever said volunteer is able to go.

Stimulus money comes Sept. 1.  Anyone interested in the exciting world of oncology research administration send me your resume!

My boss: Do you know anyone who's looking?
Me: *hands over 5 resumes*
My boss: I'll take that as a 'yes'.

EDIT: You may want to resend even if you already gave me one in case it's outdated.  Like Nia, the one I have says you live in Ohio.  If you're still interested...

Seriously, someone came and stole all the pretty deco stuff off our porch!  I mean, it was pretty but it wasn't nice.  You couldn't sell it for more than yardsale prices.  The vases had cracks all through from being outside in the weather.  I mean, stealing a car or a TV I get, but this just doesn't make any sense.  But what? They had an overwhelming need to redecorate and couldn't afford the trip to Walmart?  WTF, mate?

Would anyone do a non-anonymous course evaluation?

Edit: for a course on which you're being graded.

This is officially the most boring paper anyone has ever written in the history of the world.  I'm putting myself to sleep.  I keep re-reading the paper topic in the hope of getting inspiration, but I can only get halfway through it without nodding off.  Shoot me now.

Ok, I'm 1/4 of the way through my first graduate class, and I have learned the following:

1) I hate grad school
2) I was not built for online classes
3) Boring required intro classes with a broad scope and no depth suck serious monkey balls
4) Kill me now.

Ok, I learned that third one at Wooster, but the lesson has been refreshed.
